Hi all, I see a philco 32-9087-w speaker on ebay...Will that work in a philco mod. 20?

The general answer is not so much. It needs to meet a few criteria. Low impedance output transformer to match the push pull triode output tubes (about 4000 ohm total). Needs to have a push pull output transformer. A speaker from a model 70 looks the same but has a single ended transformer. The field coil needs to have a fairly high dc resistance about 3100 ohms. Most of the later sets the field coils are lower around 1500 ohms.
Not to even mention the size that seems to be very different.
Some H or G -type speakers will work, as they seem to work with P-P with 45 or 47 tubes. They even might have compatible plugs. Or so I think.
I checked the auction the number 32.9087-w is not the speaker number but the field coin part number which I did not see listed but I will check again.

I rechecked and 32.9082 field coil was in a 1942 radio so I expect the 32.9087 to be later than that and guess that it may not work for a model 20 just based on age.

Not base on age....but the early 30s speakers had voice coil from 0.15 Ohm to 1.1 Ohm or so.
The 40s speakers became more or less what they are today impedance-wise, so they would work and do work when an appropriate audio transformer is used.
I had no problem using 8 Ohm speaker in a 90 when checking reception when my original was being reconed.

a Philco mod. 20 Deluxe is in great shape both cabinet and electronics.

So is the issue with your original speaker with the cone or voice coil? If the opt and fc are good you could send it over the Sound Remedy in NJ. It's about $40 plus the trip. They can replace the cone, spider, and voice coil.

The seller didn't post the size. To me it looks like it could be a 10 1/2" (H) rather than an 8" (K or S) speaker. I would check on that. The cable looks to be a three wire job so if it is you'll need to change that and the opt too. The field coil is anybodies guess.

Nowhere in the Philco information is that field coil number listed. At least I can't find it. Yet it is certainly a Philco number.I have read a thread on another forum that is very confusing and attributes it to being in a Philco model 635 and also model 19 . Yet I do not see it listed as such.

For the more adventurous out there.... re-coning a speaker from a model 20, 21, 70, 90, etc.... makes ALL the difference in how good they sound.
My model 90B with the PP 47s sounded like an entirely different set when I did this.

I am working on a Model 20 right now. The case is a basket case and I am still working on the chassis (Yep, the coils!!) I'm using a modern 8" 8 Ohm speaker, a 3K 10 watt resistor and 40 / 40 uF capacitors. Not original but works well before another RF Coil opened, but still receives my talking house transmitter from the detector grid. The modern speaker is low end but still sounds much better than an original condition Model 20 that I repaired. I may put in an Aux input and audio volume control between the detector and 1st AF to hear how good the Push Pull 71A Amplifier sounds. This radio is not good enough and complete enough for a restoration to original condition right now (Although the 3 24as and 27 are Philco branded globes. The 71As and 80 are RCA Globes. I got the chassis and case separately, the chassis without tubes.
