I am restoring a 46-350 and have replaced the caps and the electrolitic can caps also the ac cord . The problem I have is that with the on/off switch in the off position when you plug in the set the tubes light up and then when you turn on the radio the volume is already at a comfortable level . So when I shut off the radio I have to unplug it any help will be appreciated
The sch shows everything is disconnected when the switch is off.
Have you tested the switch with an ohm meter? (Be sure to unplug from AC) If so and it is not showing as opening and closing, you may need to take it apart and clean it. If that doesn't work, it may need replaced. It is also possible that someone jumpered it out.
