I have looked through the library at the documentation for 1928 -1936 at the documentation for the 1935 model 89B. I cannot find a schematic for a 2 band radio of this model and period. I am thinking of purchasing it from eBay, and would like to know a bit more before I do. It appears to cover standard broadcast and a shortwave band that goes up to at least 15.0 MC. Here is a picture from the listing of the dial...
Any information and a schematic on this model would be appreciated. It is obviously different from the earlier single band circuit.
I won't give away the eBay item number for your sake; but I found it and that is a 66B, not an 89B. 89 sets have drum dials, not flat dial scales. The only exceptions are the 37-89 and 38-89; neither of which are true 89 sets, of course.
Thanks, Ron. Yes, all the 89 sets I found had the drum type dials and covered the wrong range for SW. That's what confused me. The cabinet DOES look very similar, at least to my eyes, so I can understand if the seller misunderstood which set he had. I wonder if he looked at the label inside ? (if one is still there)
1935 89B (which came out in June of 1934)...
66B (which came out later in Fall of 1934)
In fact the production numbers listed for the 66B include the 39B and 89B ! so I suppose the cabinets were the same, although the dial escutcheons do look a little different if you really look closely, and the drilling for the control shafts is slightly different.
