Hello everyone. I acquired a Philco 46-1203 a few years back, and am now considering this as a Spring project. This unit has a D-10 78rpm turntable. I would like to replace this turntable with a M-20 three speed turntable so I can play 331/3, 45, and 78 rpm records. I know many of you will consider me a heretic for this; purposely building a FrankenPhilco. My reasoning is I don't have unlimited space, would like to have a representation of a table top radio/record player, and don't want to be limited to a one speed changer. My question is ... Will the M-20 changer be a drop-in fit for the D10, and will the pick up compliment the radio chassis? Thank you in advance for the help. Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary
Such "upgrades" were commonly done after 33-1/3 and 45 rpm records became commonly available. This is why we often find older console radio-phonographs with newer changers inside. (I know the 46-1203 is a tabletop, not a console.)
