Ron and friends,

Here's a Philco model 44 highboy that I'm repairing for someone. This has a cabinet like some other models (43, 47, others) from 1933. However, you don't have a model 44 in this cabinet in the Gallery.

Here's the chassis label:

There is also a label on the inside of the cabinet wall indicating model 44.

Is this a new one to add to the list of model 44 variants?

Tom
Hi Tom

I would say so.

It is apparent that Philco's Furniture History records are incomplete, as this is not the only Philco cabinet from that time period (1932-34) that is not documented. I just checked Philco Furniture History again, and no, this 44 is not mentioned.

Would you please send me a larger (higher resolution) photo of that 44 so that I may add it to the Gallery? Thanks in advance.

BTW - very clean radio! You don't often see sets this nice.
I'll send you some pictures now. The radio is very clean, and that's the original finish. One of the best original finishes I've seen on a radio that old.

Would you think it likely that this cabinet style came after the 44 highboy you've got in the gallery? Looking at Philco highboy cabinet trends, this somewhat less ornate style looks to me like it may have been a later version, but I certainly can't say for sure.
Pictures received, and photo posted in the Gallery (Fall 1933 page). Thanks, Tom! Icon_smile

It's hard to say whether your 44H was issued before or after the 44H which was already shown in the Gallery. Like you, I would tend to believe it came later, but I cannot say for sure since it is not documented.
