Hi All,

When re-capping 1940's ac-dc table top Philcos, there is a .2 mf cap with one lead wound around the cap and called an RF Choke. Can I just replace the cap and ignore this winding?

Alan
Yes. Been covered many times. Don't worry about it.
In most cases a plain new cap will work ok. BUT count the turns and save the old cap tube because when it starts to scream at you when it goes into oscillation, you just might need to reproduce it on some sets. Been there, done that, waiting on my T-shirt. Now, since I restuff anyway, I just reproduce them. I figure it can't hurt.
As Codefox said, get rid of it. Not needed at all.
