Hello all

While the more important work of restoring functionality goes on (thank you Alfred Corbin!), I also need to pay attention to the cabinet of this amazing set, which is missing feet...(?)

Pictures I've seen show feet on this cabinet and I've seen similar sets (different years?) without...

I'm posting this preemptively as the materials I'm getting from Chuck Schwark will probably answer the question but assuming the set came with feet, I'll need a set regardless.

Is there a template or detailed drawing of these to scale available in the restoration world to recreate these feet if an authentic set can't be found? I'm assuming they're all the same...

Any help is deeply appreciated...

The 41-616 does have feet but I'm not sure it wouldn't look OK without them if they're missing.

Wow, Tubular Bob's set even has the hard-to-find original three-post De Luxe changer, built by Webster-Chicago.

The trouble with those changers, as Doug Houston and Gib Epling at West-Tech have told me, is that the pot metal parts used had the problem of crumbling away over time, rendering the changer useless.

My 41-616 was missing its original changer when I bought it. I've decided not to bother trying to get an original; I will be substituting a 1942 Philco BOL changer instead, pulled from a dead 42-1010. The 1942 changers use a solenoid to trip the reject mechanism, as did the 1941 De Luxe three-post changers; so I will be able to make the changer reject records with the far right button and with the Mystery Control, as original.

I was hoping to get my 41-616 playing in time for Christmas, but as it is now December 2 and I haven't started on it yet, that probably isn't going to happen in time for this Christmas. Replacing all of that wonderful rubber insulation is going to be quite a job, not to mention the 18,492 capacitors in that thing. Maybe I'll have it done in time for my birthday (April) instead.

But we're not answering your question about feet, are we, Mark?

I seriously doubt that any detailed drawings of the feet exist. I could try to photograph a close-up of one of the feet on my 41-616, and could supply dimensions, but that's about all I can do.

Thanks, Rocketeer and Ron, for your replies. Seeing the back of an intact 41-616 is a big help. My set has a Garrard RC-80 phonograph which was hacked in while the Mystery Remote control wiring was hacked out of the chassis for some reason, according to Alfred Corbin, who's bringing this one back to life. I'll post in the Electronics thread about that as we need more info.
As Rocketeer noted, the set looks fine without the feet, since I've never seen it with them.
I cannot tell from the photos whether the back two feet are different or just the side view of the front counterparts. Ron, If you can get close ups with some measurements that would be awesome but not time critical. These can always be added later plus I'd need to find someone talented enough to try to reproduce these from a set of photos with basic measurements.
