I just recently brought home my Grandfather's old radio, in the hopes of restoring it. I've never really done anything like this before, but I'm really looking forward to it.

I really just wanted to say hi, introduce myself, and let you all know I'll probably be skulking around here in the following months picking up any and all info I can get from you guys.

Thanks a ton for having such a community, and I look forward to getting to know some of you all better as I go about restoring my grandfather's radio.

Thanks
Tony

EDIT: forgot to mention that I'll be bloging about the whole thing here. There's some pictures there for anyone interested.
Hi Tony,

Welcome to the wonderful world of antique radio! It's always great to get a family heirloom working. Take your time and get it right the first time. Here is a link that may help. http://antiqueradio.org/recap.htm

Just remember there is high voltage in your radio! Here is a couple more links. http://www.philcoradio.com/ and http://www.philcorepairbench.com/
I hope we can be of help. Icon_biggrin

Hope this helps

Hi Tony

Welcome! Glad you're here. Your 46-1226 is a 1946 model (46- indicating the model year). And the spindle on the record changer is supposed to be bent - that's the way they were made on those models. Icon_smile
