OOPS, forgot the TO's

8G005 (later one with the 117Z3)
G500
H500
I just doubled the number of PHILCOs here yesterday-got a minty model 70 off Craig's list for $40. Photos soon in a separate thread.

Ron confirmed the ID for me and after reading about them in his book, I beat cheeks over to the guy's mobile home. Turns out he is moving and has had this since he was 16 and got it from his Aunt. I tried to talk him into keeping it for old times sake but he told me he was going in a different direction. It was such a good price I didn't even try to do an OBO.
For Philco's I have:
40-135 (2)
40-155
40-170cs
97B
53-958 (2)
53-960

I have been collecting since early June 2012 and here's the damage so far....

5 Philcos
39-117 (works good, needs re-cap, cabinet 85%, buttons and knobs 100%)
18X (works good, shadow meter inop, minor other stuff, cabinet fully restored, first "old" radio and first Philco)
39-40 (works, needs re-cap & other minor work, missing push buttons, cabinet 90%)
38-12 (inop, needs coil re-wound and ???, cabinet re-finished)
Model 90 Cathedral (cabinet restored ..chassis inop, in progress)
Additional sets as of 15 Apr 2013:
42-380 (just finished cabinet..chassis in work)
39-25 (inop)

Also the 39-12 has been completed - nice working little set.

Others
Coronado 6953 32v tombstone (re-capped and working, cabinet 80%)
Silvertone 4587 (bought fully restored)
Zenith G503 flip front (works good, needs 4 more caps, case fair to good)
GE model 114 (works, needs a re-cap, case perfect)
RCA 6-XD-5 (inop, just buzzes, case 90%, was given to me)
Also new as of 15 Apr 2013:
Zenith 8-S-432 (inop)
Zenith 6-D-030 (works .. needs re-cap)

I have settled on the pre-war wooden sets, mainly Philcos, as my area of collecting. The plastic ones just don't do it for me. I'll probably have to get at least one Zenith console.
Lets see As Philco goes I have a Tombstone 16B, a 38-116, a 38-2,37-10, 37-610 tombstone. As RCA goes a 816K, 9K2,812K,810K1,110K,214,812K, C11-1..Zenith 7s363,12s265,8s154,11s474 Thats just off the top of my head........will have to take another inventory
41-300

My first adventure into classic radios. I am welcome to any insight via private messages that you can provide regarding this model. Thanks.
14 Phils for me, all of which play except for one which I am waiting on Ron to see if he has an osc. coil for me.

16B
37-84
38-1 (working on the cabinet now)
38-12 (not playing****above)
40-135
41-280

48-225
48-460

But home to 33 Zeniths--the oldest (1924) VIII
Thanks for the reminder, Art! After Kutztown, well...I knew I needed to check on a coil for someone, but couldn't remember who...I can do that this weekend and get back to you. I have two junk 38-12 chassis, so hopefully one of them will have a good oscillator coil.

So you have a Brand Z Super VIII, also! What, if anything, did you do about the tuning condenser flywheels that always seem to warp on these? Mine are no different...warped...interested in solutions...
Ron,
Two of the three wheels were so bad they were past repair. I am LUCKY to have a good buddy (we were neighbors for 12+ years) who has a metal lathe (still lives within 3 blocks from me). He MADE ME two new ones out of aluminum that were simply superb. They are the 2 on the right in this photo.

Hi guys........ my Philcos are a 37-610 tombstone, a 38-116 console and a 16B an early one from 1934. All are working and the cabinets have been redone.
I got 5 Philco's, my oldest being the neutrodyne plus model 86 and a TRF model 76 in the deluxe cabinet from 1929. My favorite out of those five would be the 15x, still need to restored all, and working on one right now. I have 2 RCA's, a 1929 RE-45 and a 331, both are nice, but nothing beats those Philco Chassis, they sure were built well.
