The PHILCO Phorum

Full Version: Philco 201X - Name plate in radio???

I just finished stripping down a Philco 201X. It had lacquer on the inside as well as the outside. One thing I found when I cleaned the chassis board is an oval brass plate with the name of Powers on it. It is nailed in.
Did these radios get the name of the person who assembled the radio, or could this have been added after?
This radio has not been touched. The electronics are all original, and there was enough dust on it to make me think the insides have never been moved.
Has anyone seen this before?
Let me know.
Thanks
Chris

Maybe the brass tag was put in there by a dealer? I have an RCA console where the dealer added their decal to the dial bezel.

Aaron, I hadn't thought about that. I'll be the dealer put it on. For $250, this was a very expensive radio!
Thanks
