Hi everyone,
Getting to the point of reassembling the chassis on my 40-190 project. Upon reaching for my dial cord material, I come out about 2 inches short of what I need and don't have any more on hand. I really don't have a reason to place an order to Radio Daze other than for the cord, so i was wonsering if there is a good substitute that would be available locally. I was thinking maybe fishing line or on that order. If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them! Thanks!

Waxed thread works great. You can get it at Tandy leather, or any store that sells leather working supplies. It's about the same diameter as real dial cord, wax coated so it won't slip, doesn't stretch, and it's cheap. You can also bend little "hooks" in it to get it around pulleys and in hard to reach areas and it holds it shape.

Braided fishing line.
High test, can't recall
20lb test maybe.

Spider stealth braid.
Works well for me

PuhPow, never thought waxed cord would work well.
I have a ton of lacing 9 cord. Will give it a shot.

I use the string used in cooking. The stuff you stich up a turkey with.
If you want some actual dial cord, message me, and I'll be quite happy to mail you a few feet.
I've used waxed linen cord with good results.
Dial cord - from Bob.

But I have a lot of that ATT wax string too.
Heavy cloth fishing line - I had some around and it worked great. The restringing was a bit of pain, though. Here is a source for where he string goes:

The tricky part is getting the tension high enough. Make sure to wrap several times around the base of the tuning dial.
