Picked this up today. 1929 Philco 76 (I think) lowboy. The guy I bought it from said his grandmother bought it new in 1929, and when she passed in 1970 this was one of the few things he asked for. It was professionally refinished 25 years ago because his son has spread ink all over the top. It is extremely clean but is missing the tube shield and 3 tubes.....naturally both 45's are gone. But It is so clean, and I liked the tapestry grill cloth so I bought it.

I wonder why the "professional refinisher" couldn't have simply refinished the top? That sort of work is pretty typical of what the average "professional"
refinisher does around here, strip n' clearcoat, if there is any colour at all it's a monotone brown. I'm not sure what the 76 had for a shield, the 95/96 had a sheet metal box mounted at the center back of the chassis. The grille cloth looks very good though.

I wish I could get a birthday present like that...LOL. Nice, And happy birthday!
After looking over the chassis in more detail, and comparing it to the chassis layout diagrams, I found this to be a model 95 chassis, not the 76. All the better.
Cangratulations!! That is a beautiful setIcon_thumbup

Nice radio!! Happy Birthday!!! Take care, Gary
Just an update. Managed to get all the tubes I needed for the 95 finally and gave it a quick test after doing a thorough visual inspection of the chassis, wires etc. it works great and receives many station across the dial. Cool.
Happy birthday!

Very nice set and one of my own bucket list items.
Beautiful radio.
