I've been working on a model 118 chassis this winter and the tube shields need repainted. The color is similar to a military drab geen.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what paint I need to buy?
I don't believe Philco ever had painted tube shields like other mfrs.
Just the plain metal.

Maybe Ron can verify or prove me wrong.
All 4 tube shields are the same color.
Picture removed because the color did not show up.
That's bare metal - no paint.
They are not bare metal. They are some shade of green paint.
I found a similar color in the camo paints at Wal-mart, but it was ultra-flat.
These are semi-gloss? Maybe gloss when new.
Don't believe Philco ever painted their tube shields. The one you show in the picture above is obviously not green. Icon_smile
Hello gentlemen,

DON'T PAINT THEM GREEN!

As Chuck has (correctly) pointed out, these Philco shields were originally bare metal. Really nice originals will have a bright silver appearance, almost - but not quite - resembling chrome. But most of these have dulled over the years to a medium gray color.

To match the shields to your chassis, use either flat dark gray or light gray spray paint if you wish. NOT green. Lowe's sells a spray paint that is flat light gray/silver. Looks much better than spray aluminum paint, which tends to make the shields (and spray-painted chassis) stick out like the proverbial sore thumb.

Oh, and the shield in your photo also looks like bare metal to me. Icon_smile
