Found this in an antique shop this weekend. It's had some "restoration", but is in nice shape and works well. It's been re-capped in the past. But the filter caps must be getting bad again as it does have a hum. Built not far from here in Marion, Indiana. It's my second Gloritone, the other being a model 27 "outhouse".
That grill cloth HAS to go.
Knobs off of a Philco 20??

You know it's possible. The few photos I can find of one of these shows knobs which are the same, or very similar...hard to tell in some of them. I'm hoping I can find something close to the original style grill cloth, that yellow stuff really bugs me. I could use it for my model 27 "outhouse" as well. Looked under the chassis yesterday. Whoever did the re-cap in the past did a pretty decent job.
Nice looking radio! Good find.
Those look like the correct Gloritone knobs. The cabinet is a little too light, but the radio looks to be in very nice condition. They used a fairly generic grille cloth pattern so you should be able to find something that will look pretty decent in there. I like that the original filter condenser pack is still on the chassis, often times they're missing and it leaves a big ugly hole.
I'm partial to many of the sets built in Marion too, that was a nice find.
Yeah the cabinet appears a bit too light based on the photos I've been able to find. This summer maybe I can darken it up just a bit somehow.
