I have the tools, except the signal generator.  I have looked at the tiny print parts list.  I am sure, being unfamiliar, i will not get it all right.  I wonder if there is a list or one stop shop for all the components that need replacing before powering on?

In terms of caps you'll need:
5- .047uf@630v
4- .25uf@630v
1-.01uf@630v
1-.01uf@1600v
3-.015uf@630v
1-.5uf@630v
3- 10uf@ 450v electrolytic.
They can be had here   http://www.tuberadios.com/capacitors/
You probably want to replace the power cord. Repro is available here  http://www.radiodaze.com/power-cord/ but is sold in 25' lengths. Also some small heat shrink tubing is good to have but the couple of sources I use are out of stock but you can source it locally. You could get the caps from Radiodaze but I think Sal's prices are better.

Thanks for the info. and pardon my ignorance, but what type of capacitors are these?  besides the electrolytic of course.

No problem their film caps. Typical I get the axial lead ones.

Hi Brian,

I have a signal generator that I'll give you; just pay postage.

here are links to the various places I order parts:
http://www.radiodaze.com/    Good source for repro dials as well as other components
https://www.tubesandmore.com/   Lots of components, I often order from them, especially 630V axial poly caps
https://www.justradios.com/   Another good source for condensers, resistors, and more
These are a few that should get you started. I'm sure others here will; have other resources to recommend.

Thanks, what is shipping? Brad

RE: What did I get myself into? - brianbbs67 - 06-21-2018

Everybody keeps telling me how rare this is. How rare is a 43B, really?

RE: What did I get myself into? - Brad Winder - 06-21-2018

Well, it's listed as "A" for rarity rating in the Philco book...and I've never run across one personally, in 30 years of collecting...

I'd need your mailing address. Then I can get you a postage price, and you can decide if you want the generator. Icon_smile

I could probably help you out w/ a generator too. I tripped over a E-200-C the other day that I don't really need. If you like I'll give it the once over to make sure it's working and replace the caps in the p/s. Can have it for shipping. I'm just north of Philly and would guess the weight is abt 15#s boxed.

I am guessing the .5uf is a 0.47uf? And the 0.25uf should I use the 0.27uf? or 0.22uf? Thanks

You guess correctly. Original tolerance was +/- 20%. Values are not particularly critical w/these caps.

Got ur generator apart, don't think it's ever been cracked open. Has a nice musty aroma about it. On
to the caps.
Don't it you are finicky abt appearance if so the cabinet has some surface rust but a little bit of black
wrinkle spray paint wouldn't hurt. Front panel is good as it's aluminum.
