Ordered a correct tested 35A5 audio tube for this. There was some substitute in there of unknown quality. Zero audio output.
This week is cleaning tube sockets and testing tubes.
Continuing to check the wiring and try to figure out these loose wires.

Well getting nowhere fast. Got the correct audio tube. Radio starts up - just a hum.
Those two wires are on the front of the bandswitch on the wafer closest to the chassis. As far as I can see the wires from the pushbuttons are in the correct place.
Realized the 41-221 is the same chassis which I may have for comparison.
