On the current Ebay listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-1931-Philco-Model-270-Mahogany-Grandfather-Clock-with-Tube-Radio-/191176539840?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c83027ec0 I see that the dial light works but hums. Strange, I think I would replace the dial light; I don't think LED's hum.

He means the radio hums. The sentence is not well constructed, but it has two subjects and "it" methinks refers to the radio.
