My biggest offender is our Keurig coffee maker. I make sure to keep it unplugged as it is still keeping the water warm when when off.

It's funny, a tale of 2 Keurigs. Friend's mom, an immigrant from Central America who had to leave school at the age of 10 to clean houses when her mother passed away. She had 2 of these. They were both made by Keurig. One was very simple, electromechanical, with thermal switches like any older coffee maker. The other was filled with microswitches, reflective sensors and a microprocessor. You had to do things in order or the blasted thing would not work. She had a favorite coffee cup that was clear glass which would not trigger the "cup in place" reflective sensor. I had fixed the thing for her, showed her how to use it, even got the instructions in "Espanol" (She can read; she's not educated but is smart and has a lot of common sense), but she could not deal with the thing. I asked her how she was doing with it, and she merely said "BASURA!" ("IN THE GARBAGE!"). I was a little miffed because I put time and money into it and if she didn't want it, my son could have used it. I can't be mad at her because she is a good person and has struggled to make a life for herself.
However, she does not listen to AM radio so all of her IOTs, her LED Hi-Hats, etc don't bother her.

I volunteer for a monthly Fixit Clinic in my county. All the fixers tell anyone who brings in a Keurig that it will probably never work again. Several years ago I worked for two hours just to get one open. Talk about over engineering, the Germans over did themselves.
