The resistor is dissipating just over 1.6 watts (power = I squared times R = .033 * .033 * 1500 = 1.6335 watts). So don't worry about it, it's fine.

Well then....looks like i'm done!! I'll snug the resistor up against the chassis, wire in the filter caps and put the can back to hide them, and put the radio back into it's cabinet. I can't thank everyone enough for all the help I've received. With what I have learned, the next radio should hopefully go easier.
