I could not take the top so I ripped it off. It did not come off whole so it will need to be glued up but at least it will be solid when I am done and I can fill it properly.

I say paint it white as it should be.
This said, I'd never buy a radio like this.
I cannot stand white paint on furniture.

I bought this house with white painted kitchen cabinets. First thing I did was replacing them with cherrywood ones.

I could actually stain this radio since the repair came out very good. You can hardly notice it now that I have sanded off all the glue and filler residue.
The pic is of it before i sanded off the excess filler.

Of course I will still paint it even though the wood is beautiful. It will have to match the Philco refrigerator I buy later in life.

Oh now I dont know!!! Tone or paint?

Thanks Sam Icon_evil

Took the cabinet outside today and added the appliance epoxy. Looks like a new Fridge. Tomorrow I will put her back together and wait for my fridge to come to me Icon_lol

RE: Philco 41-kr restoration - tab10672 - 08-16-2014

Looks great Kirk, you can see now why I painted mine an antique white/ivory as to better match the aging of the knobs and dial pointers.

RE: Philco 41-kr restoration - sam - 08-16-2014

RE: Philco 41-kr restoration - OldRestorer - 08-16-2014

No toner for you Sammy boy.... Icon_thumbdown

now she sits on my finished shelf to cure while waiting for a place in the library

Kirk, I'm not sure about that model but the 42kr has a silver rectangle decal with black letters that is more of a sticker than a decal. To make one I painted a piece of printer paper with silver paint then I found the right font and printed it with my computer, I ran it through a few times so the letters would be bold and deep black, then I cut it to size and used spray adhesive to apply it.
