Dial Replacement - jmac3ky - 06-04-2015

When replacing a Philco dial (this one's a model 80) what is the preferred way to attach the reproduction?

They are held on as you know by very small rivets. Drilling out the rivets is no problem but what do you use in their place? Will contact cement hold?

Thanks.

If you want to avoid cracking the plastic dial, use small screws/nuts.

Short of what Tom's suggested, if you are set on using rivets, you have to extract the mandrel from a rivet and use the barrel flaring it gently with some tool. You cannot use a riveting tool.

Two good answers already. I think I'll go with the small screws and nuts. Thanks fellows.
