Radiobar - Patrick - 07-23-2015

I just got an offer to buy a Radiobar 38-3-3xx "Georgian". That's a Philco chassis, Capehart phonograph, in a Radiobar cabinet (according to Ron's site). What do you guys think? And value completely restored?

Pat

Does it have the original glassware with it? That would make a difference on the value.

Not a Radio Bar, but made by Radiobar. Here's a link: http://www.philcoradio.com/gallery/1938b.htm

I would jump on it if the price was right. You rarely see one of those sets in the wild.

He'll take $70.

RE: Radiobar - morzh - 07-23-2015

It's all in the gift of gab, I guess. I sold him a restored 40-180 today, and he's driving 5 hours 1 way to pick it up, and deliver the Radiobar. He also has an extra chassis for it that he's giving me, as well as a Zenith Shutterdial chassis and a couple of others. These things never happen to me.

Holy Cow ! Sounds like your lucky day ! I'll look forward to seeing some "before" pictures, and to following your restoration work.

RE: Radiobar - Patrick - 07-24-2015

Well, I am new at this. I've only been restoring them since November of last year. Out of the 12 radios I've completed since then, 4 are Philcos, and I'll have 2 more Philcos now. All have been sold. I thought I'd post the Philcos I have done. I'll post the the Radiobar before and after, and the Chairside when it's done. Ignore the knobs on the 42-350. They were only temp until I received the new ones.

I found this http://mulhollandpress.com/styled-2/styled-42/styled-43/index.html. It lists the Radiobar as a model 2-1 with an original purchase price of $450. Could that be correct?

RE: Radiobar - morzh - 07-24-2015

Patric

Very nice restorations.

Whoops. My mistake. It's actually a 3-3 using a Philco 38-3 9 tube chassis, but it still had an original price of $395.
