Welcome to the Phorum!
Here's a little info on your model from the
Gallery.
A few questions to help gauge the next steps.
1) Do you know if the set has been recapped recently? If not, that may be the first order of business.
2) How familiar are you with electronics? If you are new to this, here's a nice place to start reading:

3) Can you post a picture of the top and underside of the chassis? That might help us figure out if its been recapped if you don't know. How to post pics can be found here:

A free version of the schematic can be found at:
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/pagesbymodel/562/M0013562.pdf
but if you need to do anything involving the schematic you may want to order a set from Chuck Schwark for a few bucks. They will be much easier to read than the free version. Go to:

If the set was electrically restored, (including the rubber/gutta perch wire replaced) and is in excellent cosmetic condition (plastic escutcheon and knobs not warped to death and cracked), maybe $80 on a very good day, otherwise no.
If you run into another radio that you are thinking about buying, not necessarily a Philco, ask the phorum before laying your money down.

Arran

Very common for these '41 and '42 sets to have a grill shrinkage. Sometimes the knobs too. Originals are light brown tenite I found some dark brown bakelite philco to replace you warped ones.
