I keep see these speakers pop up at antique malls. Since I really don't have a radio for them I'm wondering if they prove useful on the work bench. I suspect restoration is a serious understatement of what is needed to get them working again.

I have an E2 here. Fortunately it works but its really a rather poor sounding speaker. There's not much involved with them IF the driver coil is intact. If not, pass it by.
Its a high-z speaker, not sure of the actual impedance. Probably 2k?
Mine is the floating cone type and the cone is VERY HEAVY paper, almost impervious to damage.
Makes a nice decorating piece even if it were bad.

Even if the driver is open, if you find one in excellent condition and you like the looks of it and want it to work, you can have the driver rebuilt for about $50 or $60. West-Tech does them.
