Philco model 65 - need help! - Guest - 11-17-2009

After getting this set working the interstage audio transformer input opened. It drives a 27 tube into a pair of 45's. The resistance on the input side varies between 10 - 60K and when turned on the voltage drop across the input side varies from 5 - 10 volts causing a crackling noise in the speaker. Surprisingly, other than that, the volume is good. What should I replace this transformer with? Will Hammond # 118944, available from Radio Daze, do? Many thanks - Joe Gatto jdgatto@earthlink.net

I think an HX-124A or 124B would be better suited for your application. The 118944 is designed specifically for Radiola III-A sets.
