Philco 38-62 BC band heard on SW band -
Jimradio - 11-12-2019
Hi Guy's, I have finished recapping this radio and it is up and working very well. My issue iis I can hear some BC band stations, the stronger ones, on the SW band. They are at a lower volume. The band switch looks good, works well and cleaned it. Never had this happen before, so I thought I would ask the guy's about it.
Philco 38-62 same as 37-62.
Thanks

Have you done an alignment with a signal generator as per the instructions??

Hi Terry, I have not done the alignment, I will do that.
Thank you for the reply.

I did the alignment and it was off a bit, it is better now. What I didn't realize is that the SW band is a police band which is 2.3 to 2.5 mHz. So a little bleed over was not in the range of this small segment of the dial.
Thanks Terry for reminding me to do the alignment.
This radio has very good reception.

If you have some strong stations between like 1150-1275kc it maybe hard for this set to discriminate between the desired frequency and half of the desired frequency. There's nothing on that small portion of the sw band. If it went a bit lower it would cover the 160mtr ham band and if it went a little higher it would would cover a time station, weather station, and the 80 mtr ham band. I think there might be a sw broadcast band around 3mc.
