Photo Finish or Real Veneer? - Greg - 06-10-2020

Hi,

I was "required" to buy this 40-140 for $14.40. I know, odd price ($18 - 20%). Actually my wife did suggest i get it!

Is the band of "veneer" below the dial actual veneer or some sort of "photo finish"? I'm not sure how to easily and non destructively test it.

It needs a new dial cover and a couple of knobs, but is otherwise pretty good. The back cover is in just about perfect shape.

Hi Greg -

The 40-140 has no photofinish. The set you're looking at should refinish real nice though the water stains on top may take some work.
