Welcome to the Phorum. You should find plenty of help here for your repair. First tip is to never power up one of these vintage units until you have confidence that the power supply is in good shape. The power supply filter capacitors most definitely will have to be replaced as well as other capacitors in the radio. If you don't do this then you can end up damaging transformers, field coils or tubes, some of which are difficult to find. So let's get a look at what you have.

Yeah! and even then - - - Yesterday I was working on the 29-tube Meissner. The receiver chassis was on it's side and checked out OK. I turned it over and turned it back on only to get sparks and parts flying around inside of the 5Y3G. A big solder blob relocated its self inside of a 7-pin min tube base. Don't know how I missed that. Now I have one less 5Y3G (G bulb).
All is OK now, she is playing on FM.

That is one amazing console! Could you possibly provide a photo of the chassis and tube layout? Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

Hi Teri and welcome,
Quite a custom cabinet! I can tell you that the chassis is from 1929-31. The tricky part is that Philco even if it was in a standard issue cabinet there were several different chassis that could have been use in a given cabinet. As Gary mentioned some pics of the back of the chassis maybe helpful. Some of these models used a large metal shield along the back of the chassis. If this is the case a pic of the top would be more telling.

No, That's why you can't find it anywhere. In some instants it's a custom cabinet built for a radio application. Or it could have been a cabinet that a radio was fitted to.

Quite a cabinet.. It is custom but it also looks familiar. Those were usually purchased for receivers that did not come with a cabinet included, like Scott.
