Model 41-295 Volume Drop After Cleaning Pots -
Sourbone - 02-19-2010
Recently I successfully recapped a model 41-295. After cleaning the tone control and volume control with a cleaner/lubricant and letting it sit overnight, the radio has had a drop in volume. There is no crackling or static. Everything sounds quiet and runs smoothly, but there's a significant loss in volume. I gave the pots each two shots of spray cleaner lubricant. I am wondering if I sprayed too much material in the pots. Could that have caused a problem? I've replaced all the bad tubes after checking. Can you help me out?
Thanks,
Dave

Kinda doubt it. Just cleaning the controls shouldn't have that affect on the set. Double check for something that might be loose or have a bad connection. Did the tone of the set change from before to after the cleaning? Looks like the volume control is 4megs w/ a tap for the tone control. You could measure it to see if there is a problem.
