Philco 38-116 -
jamr005 - 07-03-2024
Just finished recapping this baby and it plays great on AM, but the SW bands are dead. Been troubleshooting for several days and believe I have a problem in the Oscillator coils section. The bad news is I will probably have to remove the RF sub chassis. Has anyone done this before and if so can you give me a few tips. Thanks,
Joe Miller

Ron had a section on doing it. I believe he swapped 38-116 and 38-690 tuners, for which he did the full removal.
There are mechanical manipulation with the band switch involved.
Ii restored a 37-116 and a 38-690 without having to remove the tuner, but otherwise I can say this:
While disconnecting wires, label them all, and take plenty of photos.
