Philco plastic dial covers - Guest - 02-08-2006
Hi all, Had 2 Philcos that needed new dial covers. Found a site by Eddie Brimer that gave instructions on how to make your own. It works very well! The first was 47-205 which was my first attempt-took me 3 tries to get it decent. Make sure EVERYTHING is clean-One small unseen speck of dust shows up on the new dial cover! Found out the 1/8" stock I was using did not produce the original depth of the dial cover. Used 1/4" stock and that turned out fine. The second was a 38-14 and the 1/8" stock was perfect for this radio. I am pleased with the results and want to thank Eddie for providing the info. My wife is used to me putting radio stuff in the oven now that I have gotten my own cookie sheets to put stuff on-I ruined most of her original ones which I have replaced! Kenny Kidd
