38-4xx console -

My 38-4xx console came with a loop antenna. It was just laying in the case. It appears to be original.
It looks like it has a bushing in the bottom center and a hole in the center top.
Does anyone have a picture of the mounting system?
The rear case bottom board does not show any mounding holes. No sign of a mounting bracket

I'm thinking that maybe the antenna fits horizontal under the shelf the chassis sits on. radiomuseum.org has photos but I can't blow them up with any resolution. The 38-4xx photos on ebay don't show the back at all. Maybe they will send you one.

One listing for the loop states it was mounted on the back cover. I am not sure how. The holes in the loop frame look like a rod goes through them and attaches to a bracket, but that is a guess.

If it were mine I'd mount it as conveniently as possible then if the real method is discovered it will be easy to implement. If it's mounted on a back I think it would be cumbersome to service the chassis. Is there even a back on this cabinet?

Hi,
There are clips indicating there was a back.

Pictures of this set are available at Radiomuseum. A picture of the back does not show this loop nor any method of mounting one. The schematic from our Philco Library does not show a loop antenna. For comparison, my 41-255 has a loop antenna which is shown on the schematic.
Many console radios that had a loop antenna had a way to rotate the antenna for best reception as opposed to having to rotate the cabinet. Mid range and high end Zeniths had this feature. The RCA Super VIII (Ca 1925) had an elaborate knob and bevel gear set to rotate the antenna from the front panel. However, this set cost more than a 1925 Model T. ANY 1925 Model T.
