14B Code 122 Mystery Tone Capacitor - Sipolandis - 01-06-2026

Received a 14B Code 122 that someone else had gone through. Double-checking all the capacitors lead me to the tone circuit. The schematic I have indicates that one of the capacitors in the tone circuit is a whopping 3,000 uF. The associated parts list shows "....." for the value of that capacitor. Any clue to what it really should be?

It's a typo.

3nF

The part 30-4073 contains a 0.05uF and 3nF caps.

They switched "m" for "mU".

And, well, at the time they did not have such capacitances.

Thank you so much. That makes a lot more sense.

Oh...and for the "..." for the value.
The parts list says this:
64: condensers internal to 63.
63: Tone control 30-4073.

This could be found in the late Ray Bintliff's book "Philco Condensers and More".
Unfortunately they are rare, I bought one of the last off of Ray shortly before he left us.

Thanks again. I'll add the info to my personal archive.
