Philco 47-1230 -

Well, folks. This is becoming more of an addiction than a hobby! I drove down to Edmond (a suburb of Oklahoma City) this morning to pick up a Philco 47-1230. Upon first inspection, the cabinet will need some work. Aside from a recap, a fresh power cord, etc., the innards look pretty good! Here’s a couple of photos from the listing I found. I’ll get some more pictures this evening.
I understand the D-10a turntable is made of unobtanium, but I’m juggling the thought of getting a post-1949 turntable model to install so that I could also play LP’s.

Joseph - you're going to have to stop driving. You can strip a little more veneer on the left side so it matches the right. :-)
Does that turntable rotate counter clockwise?

Maybe it's a BOL.

No, but you have to reach from behind to lower it to the record.

I did a bit of research. There were two available options in 1947 for the D series: the D-10 turntable or the D-10A turntable. The distinction was that the D-10 had a crystal pickup, the D-10A had a dynamic pickup. Both models were equipped with “semi-permanent type needles”. This 47-1230 is equipped with the D-10A.
