Transitone 42-PT2 - dudly - 04-08-2026

I rewired a transitone and had great difficulty tuning the IF. I also ended up replacing the IFs wires with 20AWG stranded - is this a problem? Finally tuned it with the aid of a scope on IF2 output. Tuning is off about 10% on the low end, 600kHz is at 660 on the dial. 1600 and 1500 are ok, adjusted per Philco maintenance instructions. Compensator wont get me to 600 on the dial.
1 - Are the Transitone IFs just plain hard to tune?
2 - Could the 20AWG stranded IFs wires have shifted me?

If the wires are the same length more or less, no, they should not de-tune anything.
The tank is in the IF can.
Which doe snot mean you could be sloppy, but changing the type of wire is not important.
