Hello fellow tubeheads,
I am new here. Just got a Philco 40-82 off FBMP. Seller sent a pic that was before rodent damage to outside fabric covering. Edges are all chewed but radio case under it is undamaged. Radio inside is also VG. Does anyone sell the philco tweed. Mine is shelaced gold yellow w/ 4 stripes that circle the case. I know its an dertaking replacing it, but on this model the door hinge is that fabric. I can post pics is needed.

Welcome to the Phorum!
Pictures would be great to have. We don't have an actual photo of a 40-82 in out Photo Gallery so it would be great to have one and add it in if you are ok with that.
I have never seen anyone selling reproduction cloth for the outside of the case. Interestingly the
1940 Sales catalog we have in the digital library only lists the 40-81T not its sister 82 with the front cover. the description of the case in the catalog for the 81T says its "smart airplane cloth" although the 74 and 88 list it as "smart airplane luggage cloth".

There are some places that sell materials for guitar amp cabinets and one of those may have a match. What these were covered with was either a cotton or linen, that was then clear coated with a lacquer or varnish, so you could probably find something suitable in a fabric store. Actually replacing the original covering is the difficult part, especially the front panel with the cutouts, that is the part that goes on first.
