Fire and smoke from a Model 70 -
wmcpherson99 - 12-04-2010
I bought a beat-up model 70 on ebay. I restored the cabinet so it's looks great (My wife let it in our living room). I started the electrical work by replacing the electrolytic caps and pulling the 80 tube. I powered it up checked some voltages and everything looked good. Then I plugged the 80 back in and powered the radio back up Big mistake
The radio flashed with fire and blew smoke into the room
The wire wound resistor burnt itself up. So I'm going to do a full restoration. I'll replace all the caps and all the resistors. What I need to know what the wattage is on the BC resistor.
