In need of tuner refurb on Safari tuner -
BrendaAnnD - 09-22-2011
This tuner used to be intermittent, but would work if you shifted the tuner just right on the mount. Now, it's stopped working at all, so I assume a bad solder connection somewhere, but could be something else, too. I don't have all the necessary equipment to repair this, so I'm looking for someone who can refurb it for me. Anyone capable and willing, please message me.
TIA

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone offhand.
Calling Big Dave?!? Where are you???
Oh, you might send a PM to Phorum member Ed Locker, who is experienced in TV repair.

I share your pain. Perhaps a gentle cleaning with deoxit rubbed with a cotton swab might save the day on the tuner contacts. I wouldn't spray it, but if all you have is the spray, spray it in the cup, and then proceed. OK to pass a piece of good old paper gently between the contacts back and forth a couple of times to help this along. Let it dry out for a day before firing it up, and let us know. We'll go on to the chopstick probe next if needed.

Two possibles.
Quality Tuner in Texas...or...
Amptech Systems, Warren, OH.
Based on the description, it sounds like all it needs is a good cleaning.
Email me privately and I'll try to help as best as I can.
I can have your set looking like new.
