Clear Lacquer On Decals? -
Jack - 10-18-2012
I am finishing up a cabinet for a Philco Radio-Phonograph Model 46-1201.
Question: Does anyone know if its OK to spray a couple coats of clear lacquer over the new decals after they are applied? Or will doing that ruin or yellow the decals?
Thanks

A couple coats of clear lacquer are essential to help protect those decals. A careful application of Micro Sol to each decal before applying more lacquer should make them smoother in appearance.

Spray it on!
If you are brushing your finish (as I am) please save yourself my headache from last night and spray several protective layers over that decal first.
My decal fragmented badly under the brush, even though I gave it 2 coats of Testors clear lacquer first. Not sure what to do now, aside from whip out the 320 paper again...
