Decals - Eric Adams - 11-16-2012

I put a new "Philco" decal from Radiodaze.com on a Bakelite cabinet. How do I protect it without spraying lacquer on the whole thing? Can I put a coat of wax over it?

Thanks,
Eric

order a spare decal Icon_smile

I doubt wax would help much but it couldn't hurt. Maybe a mask and a spritz of lacquer and then steel-wooling the overspray would help?

Now that the radio is in a collector environment rather than a daily appliance the decal should hold up longer than the original.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Agree. Devcals for plastic or bakelite cabinets were more robust than those who would be covered by a couple of coats of lacquer. So, as my esteemed Exray colleague has suggested, mask off, and give it a shot or two of reinforecment lacquer, peel away really carefully and leave it be. If you screw it up, for sure you can repeat, but I hope not. Else keep you hand on the knob, not the cabinet.
