Proper line cords for different model years - Mondial - 04-20-2013

Given that over the years many line cords have been changed out on older Philco models, I wonder what is original and correct. When did Philco change from braided cloth covered AC line cords to parallel zip cord?

I am thinking maybe 1937? I have a 1936 610B which appears to have an original cloth cord. Any newer Philco seems to have zip cord?

I have a 37-9 chassis which has a crumbling rubber zip cord, but not sure if original.

Philco made the changeover during the 1937 model year. Some 1937 models have been found with cloth-covered AC cord, but most seem to have had rubber. As was Philco's wont, they used up their old stock of cloth-covered AC cord before making the switch to rubber. All 1936 models appear to have had cloth, and all 1938 models had rubber.

Thanks Ron, that confirms my thoughts.

The other thing I wondered about is the type of plugs used with the cords. The cloth cords always seem to have the screw terminal bakelite plugs attached, but am not sure if Philco always used molded on plugs with rubber cords?
