Picked this up today model 43 -

Found this on the local craigslist. It's missing the small skirted knob, the grill cloth has been replaced with burlap
and the speaker may need re-coned. Might be repairable, but it has 2 good holes in it.

I may have paid too much ($149) but big Philco cathedrals are hard to find around here. And I love the way the grain on the face looks. I think it's purdy!

Nice find!
And with that style of sticker on the back, it indicates (to me) that it is one of the last production 43 chassis, made before it was discontinued and replaced with the then-new 44 in the fall of 1933.

That's a beauty! I had a 44 and it was a real good performer. They sure are heavy!

The 43 is no slouch in the performance arena either.

2 have been bypassed. 1 orange drop has been added but other than that no work has been done to it.

It has all the changes in the Riders manual, plus a 500 ohm resistor and trimmer on the cathode of the 1st detector not mentioned. Well there is mention of a half plate cap and the alignment for it, but it's not on the schematic or the resistor parts list.
The speaker cone is shot, but all the coils and IF's ring good and the tubes all check good as well.
Ron, the chassis is stamped G57776. I don't know if that helps date it in the run or not ??
