Philco 42-380 loose wire on shortwave switch - europorsche914 - 01-30-2014
Hi so just finished replacing all capacitors and resistors on what appears to be an untouched survivor radio and it works great on broadcast but is dead on police/shortwave which I'm assuming will be solved with some deoxit on the switch contacts. But on the shortwave switch panel there is a strange short white-red striped wire which doesn't appear to connect to anything.. I've followed the schematic and everything appears to be correct but I could have missed something.. Any ideas? Pic: [Image:

I'm thinking that wire may be a 'gimmick', a small value capacitor which is made from that wire and the metal sleeve around it. The sleeve appears to be connected to the stud just below it on the right hand end of the sleeve.
