When do decals go on the cabinet? -

Are decals to be applied over the final (laquer) finish coat, or does one apply another coat of finish OVER the decals? Just curious.

It varies from person to person, but I think it looks best when the decals are applied BEFORE the final (clear) coats of lacquer; the finish coats also help protect the decals.

Hi guys,
I agree with Ron, placing your clear coats over the decal. Perhaps apply some early coats of clear on first, do your light sanding, levelling etc. then just before the last couple of coats apply the decal.
This way, the surface will be level across the decal, and not have much of an edge, compared to if you used clear right on top of one.
But, it's up to you.
Good luck,
