Philco for 1955

Overview

The 1955 line of Philco radios continued their evolution into simpler, functional appliances.

No Philco table model radio included the FM band during this season. In fact, Philco all but dropped the "Special Services" band (1.7 to 3.4 mc) as only one 1955 portable model (C667) could receive this band.

FM was available in the top of the line C1758 Phonorama high fidelity console radio-phonograph.

An unusual feature was added to three new 1955 Philco portable models - a built-in flashlight.

Philco also introduced six portable phonographs for the 1955 season. This line of portable phonos would gradually increase over the next few years.
