Is this radio: PHILCO 48-200 BAKELITE TUBE RADIO, a good one?

Easy to work on; fix and restore?
Is it sort after by collectors?

Any help would be appreciated.

All Philcos are good ones Icon_biggrin I have restored a couple of them and were not that hard for a beginner like me. They are fairly common I think but still a nice little radio. Do you have the brown or ivory version?

Hi Chris:

It's a brown one. It's in excellent shape with the exception of a crack running along the top left of the case.

It was modified, the line cord looks new but very short (non polarized) and one side of the line is going to a 3ag fuse and power resistor, there is also a disc cap or mov across it. All this is placed on a small board affixed to the top of the case inside.

It plays good, although there are more stations coming in from mid to end of band then from the beginning to mid?

Very clean inside and out.

What do you think?
