Philco Highboy model 87 8 tubes 9?
#1

I am trying to identify the model number of a Philco Highboy that I have.  I know that it is either a model 65 or 87.  I would assume it is the 87 because it has more than six tubes.  I count nine, however.  Did these come stocked with a spare?

No spare.

If it has nine tubes, then it is a model 95. And that cabinet is the 1929 Highboy De Luxe - very nice! Icon_thumbup

Thank you for your help. I couldn't find information on one with nine tubes. I have held onto it for so long because it was very pretty. He needs to sing again.

Welcome to the forum, cookiebaby. What a great radio you have there ! I am really glad you have chosen to keep it and make it sing again. You'll find a lot of great information here on this website, both in the knowledge base and in the forums. There are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful folks here too, many of whom have been down the path of restoring a radio many times. They have been helpful to me, and we will all do what we can to help you, as you said, "make him sing again." When you get to the electronic restoration, there is the electronics section of these forums, and for questions about cabinet restoration there is that section. Here we will look forward to seeing your overall progress. Very best of luck !
