Ron,Chuck or anybody,
Can you please ID this phono? I think it is a 41-RP serries but unsure of which one. I have a RP2 so I am pretty sure it is not that one.

Hi Chris
It is the first version of Model RP-2, from January 1939.
If you win it, please send me some pictures of it. I don't have a good photo of this model. Thanks...and good luck!

My guess, looking at the 1941 and 42 product cut sheets, is a 42-RP2, since the case is smooth, the 41-RP2 has a moulded front on the lower case. Circuit-wise they are almost identical, between the 41 and 42 versions. Case may also have been refinished at one time, since the photo-finish "veneer-inlay" strip is missing on the lower case.
{EDIT, later that same morning.} Ok, maybe not.......

This is a 42-RP2:

Notice that this one has no half-round moldings, and it is wider at the base.
(edit) Now, a mid-season 1939 Model RP-2, which is identical with the item on our favorite online auction site:

HOOOLLLLYYYY COOOWWWWW!!! That thing went for 81 buckazoids! A bit ridiculous, if you ask me, for one of these units.
No, I take that back. Not just a bit ridiculous - more like WAY over the top. Don't think I've ever seen an RP-x bring that much money, save for the more rare RP-3 that looks like a big Mystery Control on steroids, only without the dial.
Chris, hang in there, there will be another one, and more reasonably priced. (I'm assuming you aren't "monique-renea," right? ...Right? )

Ron,
No I am not. I was very disappointed I did not win it. I don't understand why it went that high! I got my RP2 for $25! Will keep my eyes open. Still have not gotten to restoring the RP2 yet. Too many radios not enough time
thanks
Chris

I think $25 is more like it for these models. Chris. One man's opinion. Someone must have wanted it BAD for a Christmas present or something?
