record changer needle arm rejecting
#1

I have a philco model 48-1263 record changer. It was working fine; now as soon as you place the needle on a record it automatically picks up and returns. Just as if you were to hit the reject button. I have place the player in automatic and manual mode but the same thing happens. If anyone can help ? Thank you

Hello,
It is tripping early due to the trip mech on the tone arm to the return mech being stuck. I have really never had one that worked properly without a 100% dismantle and cleaning. The re-lube and rebuild the player. It should also be updated with new capacitors but that is a whole different beast.. You can try just cleaning the trip since the rest of the player is working fine... Surprising it is working well without a rebuild...
