42-380 recap
#1

Does anyone have a complete list of new capacitors needed to recap a 42-380? Or if there is a specific kit?

There's a schematic with caps listed on Nostalgiaair and the the Audiophool site has a clearer copy of the service bulletin here: http://www.audiophool.com/Philco.html but at the moment that site seems to be down. Hopefully it comes back up soon. Usually only the electrolytic and paper caps need replacing. Check resistors as well, the sometimes need replacement. The wiring in the '39-'49 sets has rubber insulation that often is failing. See: http://www.philcoradio.com/phorum/showth...?tid=14959 for tips/info.

I wuddn't say there's a kit as much as making a list of electrolytic and paper/wax caps from either the parts list or looking at each cap for it's value. And then marking them off on the schematic. Buy small quantities of components needed and save the overage for the next job. (there will be a next job, right?)
